Robert A. Champion received his Bachelor of Science degree from Ferris University in 1977. In 1994 he received a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver, College of Law, where he was a Barristers’ Cup Fellow; Articles Editor of the Transportation Law Journal; Marion F. Jones Memorial Scholarship recipient; and recipient of the American Jurisprudence Awards for Trial Practice and Advance Trial Practice.

Robert Champion has years of experience as an assistant prosecuting attorney assigned to major felony prosecution of homicides, home invasion, armed robbery, and criminal sexual conduct cases. He has successfully litigated thousands of criminal and civil cases covering a broad range of complex legal issues.

With over 20 years combined experience in all aspects of the criminal justice system, Mr. Champion has a unique understanding of the criminal justice process. This includes experience as a former police officer, assistant prosecutor and as an instructor and presenter with both the Michigan State Bar - Criminal Law Section and the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan on issues involving drunk driving and domestic violence.

Since opening his private practice in 2006, Robert also serves as City Attorney for both Plainwell and Otsego as well as legal counsel for Parchment Public Schools.
